Dear customers,
Even two decades ago, when Lithuania became a member of the European Union, we undertook to harmonize our telephone number system with European standards. This process, although it has taken time, has finally reached the finish line - it is time to implement these changes.
What changes from 2025 March 1st?
Major change - 8XXXXXXXXX becomes 0XXXXXXXX. This means that when calling Lithuanian domestic numbers, you will have to dial 0 instead of 8 at the beginning of the number.
What does not change?
The international prefix of Lithuania +370 remains the same. When calling Lithuania from abroad, you will still need to use +370 before the number.
Dialing of short numbers (eg 112, 110 and others) also remains unchanged.
Calls between fixed telephone lines in the same city will continue to work without any prefixes.
Although the old code will be valid until 2025. on March 1, you can already make calls by entering 0 in place 8. However, in order to avoid problems in the future, we recommend that you do not delay and update your contacts now.
Important:
Update all numbers to international format with +370. This will ensure that your contacts will be available both from Lithuania and abroad.
Change numbers wherever they are publicly visible: on websites, social networks, advertisements, documents, business cards and other places.
Update your company or organization's call management and business systems to properly recognize and process the new numbers.
Don't forget to update your personal address book on all devices!
Tip:
There are special apps for smartphones that can help you automatically change the old code 8, such as "Add country code" (Android) or "Contacts prefix fixer" (iOS). However, before using any app, please read its terms of use and privacy policy carefully to ensure the safety of your data.
These changes may seem small, but they are an important step towards smoother and more efficient communication both in Lithuania and internationally. So don't delay and prepare for these changes now!
